Drogheda teenager stabbed on way home from school

A 16-year-old boy has been stabbed on his way home from school in County Louth in the Republic of Ireland.

He was attacked at about 16:15 GMT on Wednesday as he walked home with friends along Laurence Street in Drogheda.

The teenager was taken to hospital where his condition is believed to be serious, but not life-threatening.

Irish police arrested a man in his 20s shortly after the stabbing. He is being questioned at Drogheda Garda station.
