Fungus threatens thousands of trees along famed French canal
The picturesque Canal du Midi in southern France is a recognised UNESCO World Heritage site.
But the 42,000 plane trees which run along its sides may have to be chopped down due to the spread of the infectious Ceratocystis platani fungus.
