Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti plans to resign
Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti says he plans to resign after Silvio Berlusconi's PDL party withdrew its support for the government.
Mr Monti made his announcement just hours after Mr Berlusconi indicated that he would like his old job back, when Italians vote in elections next year.
