A 24-year-old man who was arrested over the disappearance of a pregnant woman in the Repubic of Ireland has been released without charge.

Aoife Phelan went missing after leaving a friend's house in County Laois late last month. Irish police are treating her disappearance as a murder inquiry.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

A police search for Ms Phelan, along on a section of the River Barrow in Laois, is due to resume on Wednesday.

Divers spent over four hours searching the waterway on Tuesday.

Hundreds of local people, including her friends and family, have been involved in searches since she was reported missing almost a fortnight ago.

The 30-year-old left a friend's house in Colliers View in Portlaoise on 25 October and there has been no trace of her since.
