Up to 50 puppies have been recovered from two cars in Dublin as part of an animal cruelty investigation.
They include 25 Jack Russells as well as cocker spaniels, springer spaniels, terriers, beagles and labradors.
They were discovered when police stopped two cars on the Old Malahide Road in Coolock on Tuesday.
It is believed that the dogs had been brought into the country from the UK and were to be sold on the black market for several thousand euros.
