Riot police have broken up crowds of youths in the small Dutch town of Haren, after a Facebook invitation to a girl's 16th birthday party went viral.

More than 4,000 people turned up, and three people were seriously hurt, after the girl posted a message inviting her friends but forgot to mark it as a private event.
