About 2.6m euros worth of cannabis has been seized by Irish police during an operation targeting a Dublin-based organised crime group.

The drugs were found in an industrial unit in the Ballymount area of the city and included 106kgs of herbal cannabis and 112kgs of cannabis resin.

It is believed the consignment arrived into the country through Dublin Port from the Netherlands.

The raid was part of an intelligence-led joint operation between Revenue's Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs Unit.
