A rare letter in English, written by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1816 when he was trying to learn the language during his exile on the South Atlantic island of Saint Helena, has been sold at auction.

The letter sold for 325,000 euros ($400,000; £264,000) - more than five times the anticipated price.
