Help

When Francois Hollande assumes the French presidency on Tuesday, his partner Valerie Trierweiler will become the first unmarried French First Lady to enter the Elysee Palace.

A working journalist and 10 years his junior, Ms Trierweiler and Mr Hollande have been together since 2007, although they have known each other for 20 years.

Christian Fraser reports from Paris.
