France votes: 'Remain determined' Melenchon tells party

Far-left candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon - who came fourth in France's presidential first round - has urged people to rally behind Socialist front-runner Francois Hollande in the run-off on 6 May.

Mr Melenchon - who is backed by the Communists - said his supporters should not seek to negotiate with Mr Hollande or stint their support. The priority, he said, was to defeat incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy.
