Shootings lead to street protests in Paris
President Sarkozy has put a region of south-western France on its highest terrorism alert after a gunman killed a teacher and three children at a Jewish school in Toulouse.
Police have linked the shooting to two other attacks last week, in which three soldiers were killed.
The murders have led to protests on the streets of Paris and to condemnation from around the world.
BBC's Wendy Urquhart reports.
