German chancellor's 'regret' at president's resignation
German President Christian Wulff has announced his resignation, after prosecutors called for his immunity to be lifted.
An ally of Chancellor Angela Merkel, Mr Wulff has been embroiled in a scandal over a home loan.
Angela Merkel, said she accepted the resignation "with regret". She said political parties would now start consultations over his successor.
