Infamous Auschwitz 'Arbeit macht frei' sign restored
The infamous metal sign hanging over the gates of Auschwitz has been completely restored after it was vandalised by thieves in 2009.
The sign, carrying the words "Arbeit macht frei", or "Work sets you free", was seen by hundreds of thousands of Holocaust victims as they entered the Nazi concentration camp.
But even though it has been renovated, the authorities at Auschwitz, which is now a museum, are leaving a replica above the camp gates.
