A koala stolen from an Australian wildlife park two days ago has been reunited with its keepers.

Banjo was taken by thieves who used bolt cutters to break in to his enclosure at the Australian Reptile Park in Somersby, near Sydney.

On Wednesday staff received an anonymous telephone call telling them that Banjo had been returned.

He was found dumped in the car park in a plastic bin. "It's good to have him back. People can't care for this sort of thing. It's not a dog," said keeper Tim Faulkner.

The 13-year-old koala appeared frightened and was suffering from mild dehydration, but was otherwise in good condition.
