Nine people have been killed and 15 others injured in a stampede at a religious gathering in the temple town of Deoghar in India's Jharkhand state.
Among the dead were eight women, officials said.
The stampede took place in the Satsang Ashram where thousands of devotees had gathered for morning prayers. Officials said there was no crowd control.
The devotees were observing the 125th anniversary of Thakur Anukul Chandra, the ashram's founder.
