Eid tensions high between Bodos and Muslims in Assam

Help

In the Indian state of Assam, hundreds of thousands of Muslims are marking the festival of Eid inside heavily guarded relief camps.

Tribal groups in India's north-eastern Nagaland state have said they will evict Muslim Bangladeshi migrants "illegally settled on our lands".

Tensions have been rising in the north-east following clashes between indigenous Bodos and Muslims in Assam in July.

80 people have died in clashes between the Bengali-speaking Muslim settlers and mostly Hindu tribesmen.

Sanjoy Majumder reports.
