A witness has described the moment a vehicle crashed into a crowd and caught fire in Tiananmen Square on Monday.

Speaking whilst inside a Beijing hospital, Wang Dake, who was with his mother at the time, said he feared it would have been "the end of us".

He said: "We thought the jeep was heading for us, and my mother and I had no way to run from it so we didn't move."
