Rescue operation under way after South Korea ferry sinks

16 April 2014 Last updated at 22:46 BST

A major rescue operation is under way after a ferry carrying more than 470 people sank off the coast of South Korea.

Officials say at least four people have died and hundreds are still unaccounted for. Most of the passengers were school children and their teachers.

Amateur footage has emerged which apparently shows passengers on board waiting to be rescued.

Some may find Lucy Williamson's report distressing.
