Thai police clear central Bangkok protest site

14 February 2014 Last updated at 13:52 GMT

Police have been deployed in Bangkok to retake some sites occupied by protesters since they started their anti-government campaign in November.

Officers took control of the main Royal Boulevard in the Thai capital, facing little resistance.

However they abandoned their plan to retake a government complex because of the likelihood of serious violence.

Jonathan Head reports from one of the areas retaken by the police.
