Millions of Thais are heading to the polls to vote in a general election boycotted by the opposition and blighted by protests.
Anti-government protesters have said they will disrupt voting across Thailand and continue their campaign to force Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to quit.
They have surrounded some polling stations in Bangkok and prevented would-be voters from casting their ballots, but in other areas of the capital the election is going ahead as planned.
John Sudworth visited one polling station in Bangkok where he said it was "business as usual".
