Thai protests: Tens of thousands bring Bangkok to a standstill

Protesters in Bangkok have carried out their threat to bring the city to a standstill.

The anti-government demonstrations have been going on for nearly three months, with the country seemingly increasingly polarised.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has now offered to meet her opponents and discuss possibly postponing the elections scheduled for the 2nd of February.
