Bangkok protests: High security at Thai police HQ

1 December 2013 Last updated at 09:44 GMT

Troops have been deployed in the Thai capital Bangkok to support riot police shielding official buildings from anti-government protesters.

Tear gas and water cannon were fired as protesters tried to breach barricades outside Government House, but the scene was more peaceful outside police headquarters, where security was also tight.

The BBC's Jonah Fisher reports from the scene.
