7 November 2013 Last updated at 23:12 GMT

People in the Philippines are braced for the arrival of Typhoon Haiyan, which has been described as the world's most powerful typhoon this year.

With winds expected to exceed 278 km/h (173mph), the authorities have been evacuating residents in the most vulnerable areas, cancelling flights and closing schools.

President Benigno Aquino called on everyone to take the necessary precautions, saying in a televised address: "No typhoon can bring Filipinos to their knees if we'll be united."
