Washington Post claims Pakistan 'knew about drones'

An American newspaper claims it has seen secret government documents showing that senior Pakistani government officials both knew about US drone strikes and gave their backing for them.

The revelations in the Washington Post came after Pakistan's prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, said he had urged President Obama to stop the attacks.

The UN says that more than 2,000 people living in Pakistan have been killed by drone strikes in the past decade, including four hundred civilians.
