Bonded labour: Debts of Jeeni's family written off

8 August 2013 Last updated at 16:30 BST

In southern Pakistan, a 10-year-old girl and her family have been released from bonded labour following their inclusion in a BBC feature.

Jeeni had lived and worked in a kiln at a brickworks outside the city of Hyderabad, helping her family to earn 300 Pakistani rupees ( £2; $3) a day.

But since she appeared in the BBC report, the debt keeping her family indentured to the business's owner has been written off.

Orla Guerin reports from Sindh Province.
