New regulations hit Singapore's online press

Help

New press restrictions are due to come into effect in Singapore, requiring news websites to apply for licences.

The rules take effect this weekend and will apply to 10 websites which regularly report on Singapore.

Critics are concerned that the new rules may be aimed at stifling internet-based media, who are often critical of Singapore's government.
