13 May 2013 Last updated at 23:52 BST

Unofficial results from Pakistan's general election suggest that the Nawaz Sharif has won an unprecedented third term in power.

His centre-right Pakistan Muslim League is on course for an emphatic victory.

He faces a difficult task, with the country suffering an economic crisis and facing persistent threats from insurgents.

Mr Sharif said that he would help NATO withdraw its troops from Afghanistan next year.

Orla Guerin was one of the journalists invited for a look at his private residence.
