Taiwan ups Senkaku Islands defence capability

Taiwan has launched two new patrol vessels in an effort to help safeguard its territorial claims to a chain of disputed islands in the East China Sea.

The islands, controlled by Japan, are also claimed by Taiwan and mainland China, but Taipei wants to protect its fishing rights around the Senkaku Islands.
