Woman rescued after remote New Zealand glacier slip
A German tourist has been rescued after slipping "a long, long way" into a crevasse on a remote New Zealand glacier, search teams say.
Footage from the scene shows helicopters searching for the woman, 34, but unable to land due to cloud cover.
She spent the night in freezing conditions above the country's Fox Glacier with members of the New Zealand alpine rescue team who reached her on foot.
In the morning, rescue helicopters were able to lift her to Christchurch Hospital, where she is being treated.
"It's probably unusual that you live through those sorts of things", rescue pilot Stuart Farquhar said.
