Japan’s oldest political candidate hits the campaign trail

Help

At an age when many would be happy to take life a bit slower, 94-year-old Ryokichi Kawashima is hoping to launch a political career by standing in Japan's forthcoming general election.

Seeking election as an independent candidate and with a campaign team largely made up of family members, Mr Kawashima hopes to make history by winning a seat in the country's lower house.
