Burma to increase rice exports

Help

Burma's government has announced plans to make rice-growing a priority once again, to reclaim the country's title as the Asian Rice Bowl.

Exports plummeted during the years of military dictatorship, with a lack of investment meaning little mechanisation was put in place.

But despite the government's plans, much of the country's rice-growing is still done by hand.

Soe Win Than reports.
