Scarborough Shoal is a reef in the South China Sea which both China and the Philippines claim as their own territory.
Tensions have been rising recently between the two countries as the region is believed to be rich in oil and gas.
Ships from China and the Philippines have been confronting each other for more than a month.
Chinese state media has warned the Philippines that military conflict is possible but has denied its army is preparing for war.
