Tsunami one year on: Drumming for Japan

In Japan towns that were badly affected by the tsunami are now getting the chance to experience and play traditional djembe drums from Africa.

It's part of a care programme being offered by the charity Plan Japan.

Almost 16,000 people are now known to have died and nearly 5,000 more are still missing following the earthquake and tsunami that devastated northeastern Japan a year ago.

Speaking from Tokyo, Enock Mahlangu, one of the charity's lead African drummers, said he hopes the music will help people forget the past and unite together.
