8 December 2013 Last updated at 18:32 GMT

The South African Deputy President has told the BBC he hopes someone "among us will be inspired... and follow in the footsteps" of Nelson Mandela.

Kgalema Motlanthe was a close friend of Mr Mandela while they were in prison at Robben Island.

He told the BBC's Milton Nkosi Mr Mandela "lived by very high principles... regardless of the circumstances. That's going to be a very hard act to follow."
