Nelson Mandela: Jacob Zuma says 'Our nation has lost its greatest son'

South African President Jacob Zuma has paid tribute to Nelson Mandela, the country's first black president and anti-apartheid icon, who has died at the age of 95.

Announcing Mr Mandela's death on South African television, President Zuma said he had "passed on peacefully, in the company of his family".

He said "our nation has lost its greatest son; our people have lost a father."
