A United Nations-backed special court in The Hague has rejected an appeal by the former president of Liberia, Charles Taylor, against his conviction for war crimes.
The judge said the original sentence of 50 years passed against Mr Taylor for aiding rebels during the civil war in Sierra Leone was fair and reasonable.
In his summation Justice George King told Taylor that he had abused the trust put in him.
