Fifty years of the African Union

Heads of state from across Africa are in Addis Ababa to mark the 50th anniversary of the African Union.

In 1963, leaders met in the Ethiopian capital to establish a body, then known as the Organisation of African Unity, to discuss common defence, foreign and economic policies.
