British embassy opened in Somalia


The Foreign Secretary, William Hague, has opened a British embassy in Somalia - the first there for more than 20 years.

The UK is the first member of the European Union to re-establish a diplomatic base in Mogadishu after two decades of conflict.

Mr Hague said the move was significant.
