Mali conflict: 'First suicide bombing' in Gao
A suicide bomber has blown himself up at a military checkpoint in the Malian town of Gao.
The attack underlines the difficulty for the French and international forces keeping the peace in an area which had been held for several months by Islamist militants.
French troops have been moving through the town, searching for extremists who they think may be hiding among the local population.
