Kenya police ambush bodies retrieved as security fears grow

Help

The bodies of four Kenyan policemen and reservists killed by livestock thieves last weekend are being flown to Nairobi.

The military is preparing to deploy large numbers to the troubled North West region of Samburu where more than 35 officers were killed.

Tensions are high following violent attacks on other parts of Kenya in recent months. Now there are concerns about the capacity of the security services to protect ordinary citizens ahead of elections next year.

Karen Allen reports.
