Digging for copper, dreaming of gold in Zambia
China's hunger for raw materials such as copper have kept prices of the red metal high in the last few years.
Zambia is Africa's top copper producer - so the rising prices of the metal have boosted the country's economy.
While it is the case that mining companies produce the bulk of the copper that is exported, there is a growing number of individuals putting their lives at risk for the potential financial rewards on offer.
The BBC Africa's Mutuna Chanda reports from Zambia's Copperbelt province.
