Zuma 'saddened' by South Africa mine shooting
South Africa has confirmed 34 miners were shot dead after police opened fire on a large crowd of strikers on Thursday.
President Jacob Zuma has spoken of his alarm and deep sadness at the "tragic loss of life" at a platinum mine in the north-west of South Africa.
