East Africa drought: 'Slow response killed thousands'

Thousands of lives were lost in the drought that hit East Africa last year because the response to the crisis was too slow, a report from Oxfam and Save the Children says.

The charities say aid workers on the ground were partly to blame for not convincing governments and charities of the urgency of the situation.

The report comes at the same time as warnings of a worsening food crisis in the Sahel region of West Africa.
