Gaddafi 'loyal Lieutenant' defects

Help

One of Colonel Gaddafi's closest allies has arrived unexpectedly in Britain saying he is no longer prepared to represent his country's regime.

Libyan foreign minister, Moussa Koussa, flew in from Tunisia and was questioned for several hours by British officials.

This latest development comes as the White House declined to comment on reports that President Obama has authorised covert American support for the rebels inside Libya.

Humphrey Hawksley reports.
