Benghazi 'bombarded by pro-Gaddafi forces'

Help

Throughout the day, rebels in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi said they had been bombarded by pro-Gaddafi forces.

There were reports of tanks on the streets and fighting in the city's suburbs.

The rebels said roads to the East were clogged with car loads of terrified families fleeing the violence.

The BBC's Ian Pannell reports.
