PM in London after Nigeria declares its independence
The Prime Minister of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafaw Balewa, landed in London on his way to New York, just days after Nigeria gained independence from the United Kingdom.
Speaking in October 1960, the prime minister said he wanted to "pursue an independent view".
