US 'listening' to German concerns over phones

The US is working to maintain ties with its allies following allegations that many world leaders have had their phones monitored by US intelligence officials, White House spokesman Jay Carney has said.

Speaking in Washington, he said the US was taking concerns raised by Germany's Angela Merkel, and others, "very seriously".
