Tropical storm strikes Queensland

Help

With bushfires still threatening much of southern Australia, record amounts of rain has inundated the northern state of Queensland.

Tropical Storm Oswald's heavy rains have caused flooding, and authorities are now draining dams in the capital Brisbane in preparation for the huge falls to continue this weekend.

The storm is due to head south from Rockhampton where there was a dramatic rescue of a boy caught in the floodwaters.

The BBC's Sophie Raworth reports.
