Antarctica runway melting: Search for new landing strip

Help

Australia is searching for a new aircraft landing site in Antarctica because the current runway is melting due to global warming.

Only a fraction of the planned flights have been able to land at the multi-million dollar facility which is there to re-supply scientific bases in Antarctica.

As the authorities looks for an alternative, they are having to turn to Chinese ships for help.

Duncan Kennedy reports.
