As part of the London Calling season, BBC World Service has been discovering some of the quirkier areas of the Olympic city.
Selin Girit from BBC Turkish discovers that the area surrounding London's foremost meat market - Smithfield - has a rich, sometimes bloody, history.
The district is now host to arguably some of the finest restaurants in London.
